We're the Pesto's. We are foodies. I mean we really love food! We're open to trying just about anything. I am Penne, mama of the clan. I watch food shows with my girls all the time, we have a bucket list a mile long of places we want to visit just so we can eat. When we plan our vacations the most important part is mapping out the dining.
I was thrown into cooking when I was 13, my mom went back to work full time, so I would help get dinner going. I always joke and say if my mom didn't have to eat to survive, she wouldn't. She's just picky, I mean, she just has a sensitive tummy and taste buds. I get my love of food from my dad. There isn't anything he won't eat and he loves the odd combinations. Like cereal drenched in OJ. Don't knock it till you try it. We didn't have Pinterest back in the day, so I started reading cookbooks and teaching myself. I love eating and I love cooking. Win Win!
I've always believed in kids pulling their weight around the house. No entitled kids here. Sorry. you're learning life skills. Trust me, you'll thank me later. That's what gave me this idea for a YouTube channel. I like to record the madness of me teaching my kiddo's to cook. I cringe sometimes while letting them do it themselves. Thanks to my parents, I'm kind of a neat freak. My kids are, well, not, neat... at all. My OCD meets their ADHD. I post the chaos for you to laugh at. Really I wanted to give my kids a better start in the kitchen than I got, kids cooking is very important to me Fortunately, they got mine and my husband's love of food, so here we are. Our dinner table is noisy and our belly's are always full.
Teaching them has really brought us closer together. I will admit I have my times, like all parents do, that I am trying to keep my composure because they are driving me nuts and I get frustrated. But, we are learning to work together. I'm learning patience and tolerance. Our hope is to inspire other families to get in the kitchen and get their hands dirty! (Not literally, wash your hands first you animal) Schools have all but taken out the classes that teach kids real life skills. We're a homeschool family and the options are limited so wWelcome to Mama Penne's Cooking Class!

My love of food and early start in the kitchen are the perfect utensils needed for an educational cooking channel on YouTube. Setting my kids up with skills they will use the rest of their lives, priceless and in our family, is very entertaining. All good ingredients for entertainment, blend it all together, add a dab of crazy, mishap's are guaranteed and humor will be dished out!

With parents that sing the Yo Gabba Gabba song "Try it, You'll like it" at the dinner table, there isn't much this girl won't eat. She is her mothers daughter, following her tummy and quickly learning her way around the kitchen. She tried it and she likes it. All of it!
She's Mama's mini me. She has found she loves to cook. Like Mama she has also discovered, she's a computer nerd and likes to write. Read her stories and watch them come to life in her own YouTube channel.

The littlest Pesto girl is still figuring out just what all she's into. She had her interest perked when my mom's bestfriend introduced her to the world of sourdough. She's a great little sous chef, a little messy and quite the spaz. Mama is trying to teach her kitchen etiquette.
