A Dab About Me

I earned the title mama at 18. My son got a much different mom than my girls are getting. I used to be so much fun! I was so active, rode dirt bikes, skateboarded, snowboarded and road street bikes. My husband and I married when my boy, Punk, was 8 and Miss Paige was 1. When I got pregnant with Paisley all that active stuff slowed down. I went from super tomboy doing crazy outdoor stuff to all about the mom life. I still do crazy though, like over the top, detailed parties. Like the "Pink Party" I did for my girls, two years running, when they were young. I had everyone bring pink food, we dressed in pink, there was pink actives and pink goody bags.

Look at all the delicious pink food!

Sadly, I don't have the energy anymore. In 2021 I had a stroke. Unrelated to age, I'm under 40 (barely), it was triggered by Covid. My hubby and I had it for two week, just when we were getting better I had a stroke. I was in the hospital for four months, died and was resuscitated, was in a medically induced coma, have no memory of the month of September, had to have a trachea and had to relearn to do everything we do naturally. To come home my husband and I agreed, it would be easier to learn to eat again if I was with nurses 24/7. I hated being away from my family and on a feeding tube. I missed food, well and my family. The nurse who taught me to talk and eat again, snapped this photo of me having my first meal. I had been telling her for over a month how much I missed food. I watched cooking shows everyday because I had nothing better to do.

I'm 95% back to normal, well normal for me, I always say. My energy of course is one of the things effected and I have nerve damage really bad, especially down my left side. The kids will make remarks because I can't feel heat in my left hand, so I can't tell if a pot is still hot. My walking is still, and may aways be, off. I feel like I just took a ride on topsy turvy carnival ride all the time so look and feel drunk all the time. It's not fun but I push through.  At the beginning, I worked with a PT, who is close friend of the family and biomecanics trainer, he's the reason I got out of the wheelchair, I came home in and I drive again. Stairs are still a struggle, especially going down. I shake really bad, sometimes you see it in the videos. But I'm not letting it stop me. My kids almost lost their mom, now more than ever I'm determine to teach them how to take care of themselves.
