What food were the kids cooking up this episode???
Air Fryer Italian Croutons
Where have these been all of my life?!?!? Usually I don't care for croutons because they cut up the roof of my mouth. But these! OMG let me tell you a little story about how I discovered these tasty little morsels. We went to Idaho to visit our friends. They had more friends over for dinner. Their friend was in charge of salad. As we are dishing up she breaks out the special topping. After trying one, I took a healthy handful. Mmmmmm...
When I asked "um how???" Her exact words were "If I tell you, I'll have to kill you." Worth it!!! She did tell me and let me live. Ok shhhhh, are you ready? Don't tell her I told you, k... They are made in an air fryer. She said she just uses plain white bread. She reluctantly let me keep the left overs. I mean they are that good, so much so that she didn't want to part with them. I'm glad she did though. The next night I smothered them in the left over pasta sauce and that was dinner. Mmmmmm Excuse me as I wipe the droll off my chin!
So I went home and bought me an air fryer. I was fortunate and had Kohl's cash, I found the one below and it ended up only being being $20. We love it and use it all the time. You'll see it in over videos.
She told me get a loaf of bread and add olive oil. That got me going and I came up with my own recipe. Here's my favorite bread so far, Essential Baking Company Organic Sourdough Bread. Use a lot of minced garlic and Italian dressing seasons. Threw everything in a baggie, mixed it all together and into the air fryer. 8-10 minutes. Out popped delicious!
Things we used in this video
Note to self (and you) preheat your air fryer first. 😂 This might seem silly or a no brainer but I'm telling you because I learned the hard way. And don't preheat with the paper liners, add them after. We learned that from experience too, they burn up.
Stored the remainder (those that I didn't munch on) in a Dishwasher Safe Reusable Storage Bag and put 'em in the pantry (they get better with age). I steal a few here and there to snack on. Everyone does. On spaghetti night when I take them out for salad, there is constant traffic to the crouton bag.
So what are you waiting for???
