What food were the kids cooking up this episode???
It was a little rough at first, I'll admit. I hate frying food, I like eating it but I have never enjoyed the process. The fritters turned out great though. The family eat up all the left overs. And with this Twisted Cheesy Smoked Ranch I found at a local store.. Mmmm delicious. The kids ate it all up. We are doing a McDonald's Chicken Nuggets in a couple weeks and I'm eager to compare. One of the things the recipe called for was Mrs. Dash seasoning but I over looked it, so I looked in my spice cabinet and found a steak seasoning that was similar. We added cheese since Valya say's it's when of the things that could be added. I have some freeze dried chives when added as well.
Few Things I Wish I Had For Frying
Paige had found cauliflower cups to go on the side and they turned out so amazon. I mean the are loaded with cheese and makes any veggie child approved. 🤪🤣 With a dallop of daisy and were a great side. They were super easy too. Mix everything together and put a spoonful in a muffin tin.
I feel like the food we cook is never as pretty as the author of the recipe. It still tastes good so at least we got that going for us. I put ours in the oven we had just turned off so they would stay warm and I think that's why ours came out dark. Valya say's putting a lid on the pan while frying makes the fritters to water, so I used my handy little lid venting guy to help since I don't have one of those frying screen guard.
Useful Things We Used
We did it. Ungracefully. 🤣 I don't know if I'm teaching my kids a good skill or... but I'm bad at measuring things out. I eye ball it a lot. I don't know who else does this but I've been into cooking since I was 13 so I can get close to how much I need. With basic measurement, a cup, a tablespoon, a teaspoon, a pinch, etc. My son had to come in a nibble.
