Check out the video of me teaching my girl's to cook. 😊
What food were the kids cooking up this episode??? Blah Blah Blah name of food.
Paisley was thrilled at the idea of making Oreos at home. That's her favorite cookie. I added a little to much cocoa powder so they were a little chalky at first but they were still good. She say's to measure out the powders exactly and now I know why. I kept them in the fridge. I went to fish out the last two cookies a few days later and found that a little time being in the fridge made them better. I would definitely take anther stab at these. Paisley loved them and loved the fact that she could make them anytime she wants.
Other then the flour explosion, this was a pretty simple recipe. The creamy center was our favorite part. Paisley would have ate it by the spoonful if I let her. We had fun making her favorite treat. Great dessert to bring to gatherings and impress everyone. Seems so far fetched that you can make Oreo's. Used my garage sale Kitchenaid, super simple.
A pastry bag made adding the filling easy. I just happened to have some and the tips in the back of one of my cabinets. Putting it together required reading the directions. I definitely recommend them though. For nine bucks you get bags and a bunch of nifty design tips. I'm not much of a baker, so I use mine once in a blue moon but when you need it, you need it. A good investment, you never know when you'll need it, but you'll be glad you have it when you do. I think it's easier then cutting the end off a baggie.
I talk about the vanilla extract in the video and I only mention it because I will never buy anything else. I found it a couple years ago, on Amazon, when I was doing keto and I just keep going back. It's $25 for two 32 oz bottles and comes from Mexico. It's cheaper then anything you buy at the store. Point in case, I just saw a 4 oz bottle of McCormick's for $16. So you get a lot more for your money.
This picture felt old timey, so it needed the romantic filter on it.
