Check out the video of me teaching my girl's to cook. 😊
Today on my Homeschool Cooking Class, we did another Peanut butter vs. Nutella challenge. Paige had the Peanut Butter Crunch McFlurry at McDonalds and wanted to try making it at home, so these were our own renditions. Plus Paige had been wanting to do peanut butter cups! Paisley wanted Nutella of both so...
I use to make peanut butter cups when I was a kid so when Paige said she wanted to make them I thought "yea, I know how to do that!" We also made some with crunchy peanut butter and chocolate with almonds. I'm drooling. Paisley doesn't like peanut butter but she likes Nutella, so we made some with that. They are really quite simple and the possibilities are endless once you got the basics. We made 6 of each kind and added cherry jelly to half of each kind. Mmmm I'm so glad I remembered how to do these. We will definitely be making them more often. We made massive cups, which only made them hard to eat. I did buy thinner tins and one with smaller cups for next time.
Making these at home opens the door to endless possibilities and combinations! Milk chocolate, dark chocolate, white chocolate, chocolate with nuts... Creamy peanut butter, chunky peanut butter, Nutella, cashew butter, almond butter, etc. Add Jelly, it's amazing.
Try Jelly!
The McFlurry's were a stab in the dark. Like I said Paige had the Peanut Butter McFlurry at McDonalds the other day and begged me to make it at home. I looked and looked for a copycat recipe of the Peanut Butter and couldn't find one. I really just wanted to know what they used for toppings. I did find the copycat for the McFlurry base. It's really easy, are you ready?? Vanilla ice cream, Coolwhip and milk. That's it. So since Paige had wanted the peanut butter one, I decided we better make a Nutella version too. I looked for things that would capture the flavor and add crunch. I landed on peanut butter cups and Nutter Butter cookies for Paige and for Paisley, Kinder Bueno chocolate and hazelnut cream candy bars and Nutella biscuits.
Topping Flavors
M & M
Oreo's
Nutter Butter Cookies
Reese's Peanut butter mini cups
Nutella Biscuits
Kinder Bueno Chocolate & Hazelnut Bars
McFurry's are a nice change to just ice cream and you can make your own once you have the base. I'm not gonna lie and I might brag a little bit, these were awesome. This time I couldn't choose who's like liked more. I like peanut butter and Nutella and we did everything right. The girls said this challenge isn't over. I'm not complaining.
