What food were the kids cooking up this episode???
I think I'm in love with letting my kids pick dinner. It's not your run of the mill kids food, they actually pick good stuff. I'm not super surprised because my kids like real food. I haven't caved to the childish whines of not eating anything but mac n cheese or nothing green. They ate what was made for dinner. Nobody has any allergies, of course, that would be the exception but if it was just I don't like it that will change when there's no other choices. My tastes have changed a ton since I was young, even young 20's to now. My Mom was super picky and we ate pretty limited so when I got older and experienced all the different delights I was so excited to find out more existed! We would sing the "Yo Gabba Gabba" song "Try it, You'll Like it" to our kids when they were young. They didn't like it then but the two older ones eat anything and everything now.
Dad chose the Pizza Pull Apart Pizza Muffins, Paisley chose the Maple Butter Street Corn (it was supposed to be honey but I didn't realize we had ran out so we substituted for maple syrup) and Paige got to make it all. Dinner is a group effect. The pizza muffins were awesome. Pizza bite sized! The possibilities are endless, we did what the recipe said with pepperoni but Hawaiian style would work, bacon & bell pepper. I wish I had though to spice it up with herbs, mmm fresh basil. Next time, I can't wait! She had a recipe for a no rise pizza dough, that we used, it's link in the recipe. This is a great one for kids, not only will they love it (even if you just do cheese) but it's pretty simple to make.
Things Used in This Video
The corn was out of this world good. I love corn and we have been doing it a lot lately, for whatever reason, lucky me! This corn has cream cheese in it, you heard me right! I'm drooling just thinking about it. I double what the recipe called for because I love cream cheese and it was so creamy. There were no left overs. The maple was a great substitute and yea I'd make them this way again! I looked franticly around the kitchen but only found enough for the pizza dough so I told Paige here's what were gonna do and it's worked! Sometimes I'm just winging it.
