Check out the video of me teaching my girl's to cook. 😊
Today in my homeschool cooking class I taught the girls how to roast marshmallows without a campfire! It was all about s'mores today. We found a easy twists on tradition, the S'mores Crescent Rolls. Of course, we needed a drink to go with it and what's better than a S'mores Milkshake!
We have done S'mores themed recipes in past videos (see the S'more Pie we made) and I think I said this before, but it gives me all the good feels. S'mores are such a favored childhood memory of mine. If you're an 80's baby like me, you can most likely relate. Seeing all these recipes that have evolved that gooey, chocolatey delight, get my taste buds reminiscing. These rolls were so easy too. Take crescent rolls, stuff them and bake them. Next time, I will fold up the sides so the marshmallows don't run out. These are even a great adult treat because they aren't loaded with sugar, a few marshmallows and a bit of chocolate. You can use dark chocolate if want even more of an adult taste.
The girls are understanding what needs to happen with things, before I even say it. When Paisley opened the biscuits and I rolled them out and they understood they needed to be cut a certain way. Paige was already going for the pizza cutter before I said we needed it. I can trust her with more and more tasks. Since we started doing this, both girls are really getting to know their way around the kitchen, gooder an gooder. Yes I know that's incorrect grammar, it's an inside joke and we say it all the time.
The milkshakes were a delight. You roast the marshmallows in the stove, before putting them in the blender. Since we were cooking the crescent rolls we couldn't broil them, like the recipe said, so I baked them slightly and use a lighter to get the roasted over a fire taste. The girls really got into it and liked it because it felt like the good old times, when we've been around the campfire and we were all working together to build this treat. What a fantastic idea though! Roasted marshmallows on a skewer as a garnish just puts in over the top.

Don't forget to check out the video, 👇🏼at the end of the post,
of me teaching my daughters' to cook these recipes.
You'll laugh, 🤣 I promise.
We made changes to the original recipes when we were in the kitchen,
check out the authors and the blog posts with more info about the recipes.
Below are the recipes, the way they worked for us or what I wish I had done.
Ingredients
1 8-count package crescent roll dough
1 cups chocolate chips, divided
1 cup mini marshmallows
¼ cup graham cracker crumbs
1 oz chocolate sauce (garnish)
Directions
Preheat the oven to 375º F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set aside.
Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate the triangles. (a pizza cutter works great for this)
Sprinkle the chocolate chips and mini marshmallows equally between the triangles and lightly press them into place. It helps to do the chocolate chips first as the marshmallow just smoosh and don't really press into the dough.
Roll up the crescent rolls normally, then fold up the sides to make a pocket so all the goodness doesn't melt out and place them on a baking sheet.
Bake for 10 minutes, or until light golden brown.
Remove from the oven and allow the rolls to cool on the pan for five minutes. Then transfer to a wire cooling rack.
Once cool, drizzle chocolate sauce over the tops of each roll.
Ingredients
3 tbsp chocolate sauce, plus more for garnish
2 tbsp condensed milk
18-20 marshmallows
32 oz chocolate chip ice cream
1 cup half-and-half
3 tbsp marshmallow crème
2 tbsp graham cracker crumbs, plus more for garnish
Whipped cream
1.55 ounce chocolate bar, broken into thirds (garnish)
Chocolate sprinkles (garnish)
Directions
Drizzle the inside of three hurricane glasses with chocolate syrup and condensed milk. Place in freezer until ready to use.
Prepare a baking sheet lined parchment paper and spray the parchment with cooking spray. Marshmallows get very sticky when cooked. Place marshmallows on a it. Broil 4 to 5 inches from the top until toasted and golden brown, about 1 minute. Cool completely. Set aside 3-6 marshmallows.
Meanwhile, spread marshmallow crème on the rim of the cold glasses. Sprinkle with 2 tablespoons crushed graham crackers.
Combine remaining toasted marshmallows, ice cream, and half-and-half in a blender. Cover and blend until smooth or consistency of your liking. Divide between prepared glasses. Top with whipped cream, additional chocolate syrup, graham crackers crumbs, piece of the chocolate bar, and sprinkles. Place the reserved marshmallows on a wooden skewer to give it the final touch.
