Check out the video of me teaching my girl's to cook. 😊
Today on our Homeschool Cooking Class, Paisley raced me to open biscuits to make Cheesy Pull Apart Bread and I found a new fave, Cheesy Pull Apart Bread.
I'm just going to start this post off with an applause. 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 Both recipes are officially part of my regulars. The bread, well, this will be my go to any time I need bread on the side. I ate this the rest of the week. The recipe makes a lot. Mmmm I'm drooling now. Paisley and I have a fun game we play when we're opening biscuits, called see who's pops first. I usually win, she hasn't realized the trick is the hit it on the edge of the counter once you've peeled it. Make sure you got yourself a Bundt pan, seems silly, but I did not, fortunately the grocery store had one and the Instacart shopper was able to bring me one. Paisley and I had a funny conversation about the Bundt pan, she was calling it a butt cake. I guarantee she's not the first kids to say that. It makes for a humorous convo with kids. I'm still a kid at heart and laugh at dumb things like things that look like butts. If you don't find humor in life, your life is dull.
Okay, this soup is probably my new favorite. I will say, if you think you will need more than what the recipe calls for, it's better to double the base liquids than to add more later. It's not gonna ruin it. It didn't for me it's just not as thick. She has you mix together the flour and the butter after you've sautéed the veggies for a few minutes. This creates a thickening agent. I did this and after I had added the milk and heavy cream, I realized I needed more. But just adding more milk and cream wasn't enough, it could have used more of the flour and butter mixture. It still tasted amazing but my husband asked why it was sound liquidly, he was expecting more of a chowder consistency.
I made the soup in my instant Pot, like usual, because you can sauté and cook the soup by throwing it in on pressure cook for 5 minutes. You can put the shrimp in raw because they will cook while it's under pressure. I love shrimp and corn so I was excited when Paige choose this. The girls pick the recipes and they are suppose to cook them but sometimes they end up cooking what the other girl picked. Just works out that way depending on what groceries I bought and who I need more videos of and coordinating with their schedules. I'm a very organized person at least with work stuff, so I have a whole calendar of the recipes they chose, when we'll make them, which recipes go to together and when the video airs. I plan out a month at a time. Before I had the stroke I ran the back office for a construction company. They had multiple jobs going and I did all the paper work, billing, accounting and paid bills, so I had to be organized. It goes a long way.
