Check out the video of me teaching my girl's to cook. 😊
Today on our Homeschool Cooking Class, Paige's best friend was in town visiting and she wanted to do a strawberry shortcake of some sort. So I found Strawberry Shortcake Sheet Cake and the Strawberry Cheesecake Milkshake to go with it.
Lynn had text me that she wanted to do strawberry shortcake of some kind but that's as far as she got. So I turned to Pinterest and of course there is tons to choose from. So I sent her a few and these are what she picked out. She was so excited to get to our house and kept asking me when we were making them. That milkshake was to die for. Poor Lynn was done cutting strawberries though! The girls did so good from making the cake from scratch to homemade strawberry sauce.
The sheet cake was ok. It didn't wow me but it was yummy. The frosting was awesome, we each got ourselves a spoonful. Paige and I realized that the frosting for the cake and the cream cheese whipped cream were actually the same just different measurements. Worked out perfect. The cake need 2 pounds of strawberries itself. I was disappointed at the strawberries, usually we have good one here in So Cal but these were terrible. I had to pick through them and had Lynn just cut off the nasty parts. I wish I had just asked my daughter-in-law to get some at the stand off the freeway. They come straight from the field so they are always fresh and plump. These came from the grocery store and it's not the Instacart shoppers fault, every basket had icky ones though. During the video you hear me ask "who do I call to tell to them to grow better strawberries?"
The milkshake so so good and for good reason, there was half a store bought cheesecake in it! Hence the name. She has a strawberry sauce recipe that goes with it. That was another 2 pounds of strawberries. Plus strawberries for the glass, we used over 4 pounds of strawberries! This is the most I've ever typed strawberries. 🤣 I just got these cute cactus measuring spoons and the pot is actually a measuring cup. I show it off in the video since we were using them. Got it off Temu for $16, on Amazon it's $25. Same exact set and don't get me wrong, you know I love Amazon but I am quickly falling in love with Temu.
